Romania in 7 days Transilvania region
Day 1, Bucuresti
Arrival in Bucharest, Otopeni airport, and meeting with our English speaking driver guide and transfer to your hotel. Proposed hotel, Hotel Europa Royale 4*, a wonderful hotel right in the middle of the city. After some time for refreshment, you will have a panoramic tour of the city and an evening walk in Bucharest Old City. Suggested venue for dinner, Caru cu Bere, a famous old brewery.
Day 2, Bucuresti-Slanic-Sinaia
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. We start with a visit of the Parliament Palace, the biggest building in Europe and we continue towards Snagov. On lake Snagov, on a island, inside Snagov Monastery, Vlad the Impaler, the ruler that inspired Bram Stoker to write Dracula’s story, is now burried. The journey continues north, to the salt mine in Slanic Prahova. In the evening, arrival in Sinaia and check in at Ioana Hotel 5. www.ioana-hotels.ro. Dinner in an isolated hut in the forest, Poiana Stanii.
Day 3, Sinaia–Moeciu–Bran-Brasov
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. In the morning, we visit Peles Castle in Sinaia – one of the best preserved royal castles in Europe- and Sinaia Monastery and we continue towards Bran-Moeciu region. Traditional lunch in the mountain village Moeciu. After lunch, visit of Bran Castle, known worldwide as Dracula’s Castle. Late evening walk in Brasov Old City, in the pedestrian area. Accommodation.
Day 4: Brasov–Zarnesti–Viscri-Sighisoara
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. We start the day with a visit at the biggest brown bear reservation in Romania, in Zarnesti. After that, on the way to Sighisoara, the town where Vlad the Impaler was born, we make a stop for lunch in the isolated and authentic village of Viscri. Lunch will take place in a traditional house belonging to Prince Charles of Wales and it will be followed by a short visit at the peasant citadel in the village. In the evening, arrival in Sighisoara and walking tour of the citadel. Accommodation.
Day 5: Sighisoara–Biertan-Sibiu
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. After leaving Sighisoara, it is time to discover another Transylvanian Castle, the fortified church in Biertan. Around lunch arrival in Sibiu and stop for lunch. Visit at Astra Open Air Village Museum, the biggest ethnographical park in Romania, situated in a forest ,surrounding by a wonderful lake. In the afternoon, walking tour of Sibiu Old City – the European Capital of Culture in 2007. We will spend the night in Sibiu.
Day 6: Avrig–Balea Lake–Curtea de Arges-Bucharest
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Early in the morning, we start the journey to the highest mountains in Romania, Fagaras Mountains, on a wonderful and famous high altitude road, Transfagarasan. After crossing the mountains, next stops will be in Poienari, to admire the real citadel of Vlad (and maybe climb up there – more than 1400 steps). In Curtea de Arges, can admire one of the most beautiful monasteries in Romania. Please note this route is possible only mid June to late September, for other periods of the year an alternate route will be included. In the afternoon, we arrive in Bucharest and check in hotel
Day 7: Bucharest-home
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Transfer to the airport.
